🤖 Brain-Implants are Almost Here

We’re one step closer to real-life Terminator.

Elon Musk’s Neuralink received FDA approval for its first-in-human trials. So far, the startup has implanted its chips in the brains of monkeys, pigs, and sheep.

The FDA rejected Neuralink’s initial application in 2022 due to safety concerns, such as the chip’s lithium battery, the chance of the chip wires migrating within the brain, and the challenge of removing the chip without damaging brain tissue.

Why the approval matters: Neuralink is starting with giving quadriplegics the ability to control their computers and mobile devices with their thoughts.

In the long term, the chip could cure a variety of conditions, like obesity, autism, depression, and schizophrenia.

💻 Google’s New Search Experience

It’s been a couple of weeks since Google announced it would integrate AI into Search, and now the day has finally arrived…

Google has opened up early-access to what it’s calling SGE (Search Generative Experience) — sign up for the waitlist here.

Instead of seeing a list of links to different pages, SGE will add an “AI-powered snapshot of key information”.

Here’s the catch: Google and Microsoft are going head-to-head to become the leader in AI.

Just like how Google launched Bard to compete with ChatGPT, the company is launching SGE to compete with Microsoft’s AI-powered Bing.

1. Code Tips: Helps you code faster by letting you ask how-to-questions related to a specific programming language.

2. Add to Sheets: Lets you insert a search result directly into a spreadsheet and share with friends.

🎤 AI Raps the Daily News

Yes, you read that right — you can listen to an AI model rap the news.

A Swedish newspaper called Aftonbladet is using AI to create rap songs that summarize the news.

How it started: The “News as music” program came out of a focus group designed to make news more appealing for younger generations.

Over the last month, it’s been was tested with 1,000 users.
The most popular song was a rap about Beyonce's Renaissance World Tour (check it out here).
Other concepts that came out of the focus group include an AI-driven news therapist and an algorithm that would surprise readers with positive news.
