đź“° AI-Powered News Anchors are Here

While other countries are limiting AI advancements, Indonesia is going all in.
The country has been implementing metahumans (AI-powered avatars) across a variety of industries, from news anchors to government spokespersons — take a look:

Here’s what’s going on: Companies in Indonesia have implemented metahumans because they’re cost-effective and multi-functional.
For example, tvOne, a popular news broadcaster in Indonesia, uses a metahuman called Nadira which is based on the real-life news anchor Fahada Indi. However, while Fahada gives the news in one language, Nadira can translate to English, Chinese, and local dialects, like Javanese and Sudanese through AI.
There’s more: Genexyz is a company based in Jakarta that specializes in creating metahuman influencers - yes, we just said that. Check out Laverda Salsabila, a virtual Indonesian folk singer with real-life endorsement deals.
This is not new: Back in 2018, Reuters wrote an article on “AI robot anchors that can mimic human facial expressions and mannerisms”. Plus, a broadcast company in Kuwait launched a metahuman news anchor earlier this year.
🤖 OpenAI’s New App Store

OpenAI was valued at $29 billion earlier this year, but that’ll soon be too low.
The ChatGPT founder plans to launch its own marketplace, allowing companies to buy and sell customized AI models.
Here’s the catch: It’s common for developers to fine-tune OpenAI’s models to fit a specific need. With the launch of OpenAI’s app store, companies can sell their fine-tuned models to make money, while other companies can save time by buying an out-of-the-box solution.
đź’µ Time to cash in: Companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, and ServiceNow already have their own marketplaces where companies can buy and sell ready-to-install solutions.
But, companies want to make the switch.
Aquant and Khan Academy, which have both created their own ChatGPT-powered chatbots, plan to sell their models on OpenAI’s app store.
🩺 AI-Powered Emotional Reader

Researchers at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) have developed an AI-powered emotion recognition tool, aimed at helping those with neurodiverse conditions like autism.
How it works: By using electroencephalogram (EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors, along with artificial intelligence, researchers were able to “read emotion-related signals from brain and facial analysis”
This is a breakthrough.
A tool that assists in understanding emotions enables physicians and doctors to improve mental health assessments and early intervention for those facing emotional hardships.
